他是木偶表演藝人,到她任教的學校演出。悽美的意象打動了她,而他專注投入的神情令她心響往之。這是他們第一次邂逅。

他是寫書的,正在構思一個故事。他在想,人與人之間,有沒有心靈感應這回事?他陸陸續續給素不相識的她寄一些物件,看她能否猜透箇中用意。她猜出來了。

他依她的樣子做了兩個扯線木偶。她問他為什麼有兩個,他說演出時會有磨損,一個是後備。他跟她說他構思中的故事 - 兩個長得一模一樣的女子,生於不同的地方,兩人有很多巧合相似之處,命運遭遇卻迥異,而冥冥中兩人彷彿感應到另一個她的存在,覺得到自己於世上並不孤單。他說他這個故事叫兩生…兩生… - 故事名字他還沒想好。

她靜靜地聽著。他手中把弄的是正主兒木偶,後備則蒼白地躺在桌上毫無生命跡象。她心中似乎感應到另一個自己的不測,悲從中來,不能自己。

She was entranced. A midnight phone call. A piece of string. A carton box. A cassette tape. She solved the puzzles, one by one. The clues led her to him. She sat down in the cafe, his table empty. He returned. She thought all he did was out of love. Turned out it was only a little experiment of his. Why me? she asked. He hesitated and pondered the question. I don't know. She was hurt. It was only her imagination. A mistake not uncommon among girls. She ran away. Suddenly it dawned on him – why she came, why she willingly took the bait, more importantly, why he chose her to be the object of his little experiment. They were drawn to each other. He went after her. But she was nowhere to be seen. He climbed atop a car and looked around. She hid herself behind a gate and watched him panic. A smile crept up her face.

…the questions that are central to the film: is there such a thing as free will, or is it up to a creator of some kind, or is it just a matter of chance that one acts and thinks as one does?

要客觀中肯地評價至親是不可能的事吧?

比方說小朋友,跟自己有血緣關係的看著就是特別順眼。經常有人情不自禁展示錢包裡手機裡自家小朋友的玉照,不顧旁人感受一臉陶醉地宣稱他們有多可愛多趣緻。有時看著覺得還過得去啦,礙於禮貌只得認同,心裡想的其實是 - 你沒見過我侄女,那才叫可愛呢!可我總克制自己不得宣之於口,以免犯同一錯誤,哈哈!

也不知道她像誰,翻閱父親的舊照,年輕時堪稱劍眉星目,玉樹臨風,因此,說不定是承襲了她爺爺的隔代遺傳。

年紀小小的她,似乎已經知道自己佔了外型上的優勢。愛打扮,有主見,堅持自己挑選衣服,有時連她媽媽穿甚麼都要管,並且在化妝品專櫃前戀棧不去。看見我塗潤手霜,十分好奇,問:「姑姑,這香香的是甚麼?」發現好看的東西會露出艷羨的神色 - 「這個好漂亮!送給我的嗎?」坐在我膝上把玩我手上的純銀魔戒 - 「你這個不值錢。」「你怎麼知道?那甚麼才值錢?」「鑽石。」我啞然失笑 - 天啊!才幾歲大的孩子呢!

這樣子下去怎麼得了?要是她長大後不學無術只顧恃靚行兇,那恐怕不大好吧?
